Windhoek to Swakopmund
Check in at Windhoek station is on Fridays at 11h30 from
April to September and at 12h30 on other months.
The train departs 30 minutes after check in. You will be
welcomed with a drink and sandwiches in the Spitzkoppe
lounge.
This afternoon, join a game drive at Oropoko Lodge.
Dinner will be served in the Welsitchia Restaurant (dining
car).
During the night, the train will halt at a secure siding and
wait for sunrise.
Following an on-board breakfast, enjoy a dune excursion to
view at close hand the Namib Desert.
Arrive at Swakopmund on Saturday morning at 10h00.

Swakopmund to Windhoek
Check in at Swakopmund station is on Saturdays at 14h30.
The train departs 30 minutes after check in. You will be
welcomed with a drink and sandwiches in the Spitzkoppe
lounge.
Enjoy a late afternoon sundowner before dinner, served in
the Welsitchia Restaurant (dining car).
During the night, the train will halt at a secure siding and
wait for sunrise.
Following an on-board breakfast, enjoy a game drive at
Oropoko Lodge.
Arrive at Windhoek on Sunday morning at 10h30.

Desert Express have cancelled tours though to June 2008. This is reportedly because of a lack of locomotives, caused by the need to move large amounts of coal and other fuel
